Welcome to Hayley Fern Caricatures!
This is more of a revival than a starting point! I have been doing caricatures for many, many years in this area (Loughborough) and only really stopped when I got my job in Community Arts (because all of my time was taken up). So often, I have been asked to start doing the odd picture again and, due to a recent batch, have remembered how much I enjoy it!
I have separated this blog from my main work blog because it is a private business and not associated with my main employment. I decided to use this method to advertise my caricatures and allow them to be shared.
I will be including all availability, prices and ways of commissioning a caricature for yourself. It is a small business, just me at my kitchen table with a few marker pens and charcoal sticks, very reasonably priced, accessible and friendly.
The reason why I love this art form is its longevity and popularity (as well as simplicity in terms of materials). I meet so many local teenagers who had their caricature done by me years ago, and still have them framed on their bedroom walls! I hear from mums who have had all of their children drawn in the past and want to add caricatures to the wall as they add to their families.
So, I am back. Tecnology now allows me to tell you about it so I am doing just that.
